Pros and Cons for Dating Older Men

Dating older men has become a rapidly growing social phenomenon over the last 10 or 15 years.

According to the Age Match survey, there are a lot of reasons for this growth, but primarily it's the result of the everchanging, more liberal social attitudes and, of course, the ways people communicate nowadays are more instant and far-reaching - you can be in touch with almost anyone and anywhere in the world within seconds!

Throughout history, younger women who date older men may regard them as some sort of “father figure”. However, there are pros and cons in every relationship, and dating older men is no exception.

From the perspective of a younger woman, some of these pros and cons are as follows:

On the one hand, the older man is usually more mature than his younger partner and almost certainly has far more life experience; he will be more experienced in how to treat a younger woman well. On the other hand, many older men have “baggage” from previous relationships, such as children or ex-wives who may cause some disharmony.

Younger women are often caught by an older man who has the power and standing, especially are in a senior position like the director of a company. However, sometimes, the older man may appear to be too deeply devoted to his business; in that cases, it would be difficult for a younger woman to partly participate in the business circle of her older man, especially if she is perceived as being relatively young and inexperienced.

An older man can make sure that they perfectly meet their young women's financial needs, but sometimes they may demand more attention from their younger women than a younger man do; some younger women feel an older man is more possessive.

If a younger woman is looking for a man who is at the cutting edge of fashion and/or the latest technological gadgets or social media, then maybe an older man is not for her. Of course, the older men almost certainly have an interest in these fields but tastes will differ—especially on the tech side, given that almost all of them have grown up without Facebook or Twitter!

Having said all these, there are pros and cons to any relationship, and at the end of the day, it all comes down to compatibility— the age gap should not be the barrier to dating or even the possible fancy story of a younger woman and older man.

After all, age gap dating is one of the biggest phenomena of our times!
