I have just returned from a month visiting my family in England, and everyone there wants me to go back. I also live in a beautiful place here, and I love both places. Here are some pictures. And I honestly think it will be down to wherever I find a beautiful relationship.

Yes Helena, I would love to get to Spain and Ireland but when I am in England the time flys and by the time you visit everyone theres never time to go off somewhere else. and of course the having the kind of money to do that too. I am lucky as I do my work by appointment, and I also do Special Occasions at a very High class Resort so I can get away in between the times I am there.

Ceroc Dancer, I looked at where you come from....I used to live in Chiswick, My Cousin used to manage a pub called "The Bell" in Hounslow. I don't find England drab, I lived in Brighton before I came to the USA and there is loads going on there, sounds as if you keep yourself busy dancing, A good friend of mine teaches "Dancing Classrooms" at High Schools through out the Florida Keys. (have you ever seen the film?) I would love to learn "Tango" but not many men want to do that so I am sure you are popular with the Ladies :-)

I took my UK driving test in Cambridge, a university town full of cyclists.  The only possible way to drive there in the middle of all those bikes is slow so I think probably most people pass LOL.  Your photos are beautiful too!  I should go back to England for a visit but it is always "one of these days" <> and then I would have to revisit Spain etc. and that becomes a much longer trip.  Maybe when I quit work.........

No Helena, they were not Naive comments, just some of the differences I noticed, I actualy met lots of interesting people while traveling on trains, and walking. and I spent two thirds of my life in England. I am sorry you had that awful experience of an accident, I couldnt use Public transport here as the service is really bad. I never drove when I lived in England, and taught myself to drive here as my Ex Husbands idea of teaching me to drive was "WATCH ME" so I practised in big car parks until I was ready to take the test. I still don't like driving in Miami, but in the Keys there is only one main road...good old US1. Not so easy at weekends though as everyone from Miami likes to escape to the Keys to get away from the City. I do enjoy my life wherever I am, and a few younger men would have liked me to have bought them back to Key Largo from England, Lol. I am very well Thank you, Hope you are too :-)

LTB both you and i have travelled a bit and know there is beauty everywhere as long as you open your eyes to see it.  There really is no "either or" and it is what you decide and not what someone, even a relative, wishes  you to do.  Where do you feel most centred for a start?

Like you I was born in England but spent more time in the UK than you and although I have family there and love the place, I am more at home here now (Canada).  As to the naive comments about cars etc., after being rear-ended by a careless driver, I chose not to buy another vehicle but rather to take public transit.  Yes it is inconvenient at times and you are a slave to their timetable, but it is so much more environmentally friendly than owning a vehicle, and cheaper too, that I am surprised at those who question it. Hope you are well..........

In Key Largo many people live on their Sailboats, I have a house here, Its almost like a backwards culture shock when I go back to England, All the walking uphill, and going places on trains and buse's instead of getting in my car is strange at first, Of course I love my family and friends in UK but its also nice to come back to Key Largo and I have friends and work here. and people in England really envy me living on a sub tropical Island, so I get treated like a celebrity.

I agree with that lite. Both places have got their good points. But human relationships are probably more important and more of a priority than the differences between being over here or over there.

Pro's and con's. Both locations have them. We have more history and lots of rubbish weather! I quite like the UK, but then I do travel overseas quite a bit so coming home is always a treat. But then I've sort of created my own special world here by choosing to live on a narrow boat. A different way of life but one that suits. And no, it's not cold, which is the usual first question. Make your choice and take your chances.

Anyone?
