My shop has been running around like crazy trying to prep and accomplish some big jobs. Between the paperwork delays and delays from the ships we were working with, you could never tell whether the shift was going to be 8 hours or 14! We worked through a couple weekends to stage all of our equipment into place.

Big projects normally take a while to accomplish, but projects involving radioactive material take even longer to make sure they are accomplished safely. I have worked with this stuff for several years, so I was the go-to-guy for getting hands on with this stuff. Nothing to worry about. The Naval Nuclear Power Program and my time stationed at sea has trained me well.

The only thing different about this last job was the weather. I got soaked to the bone while working out on the pier! I can't stand the cold and the wind was gusting at about 30mph. I thought our staging would end up in the water lol! the only thing to keep warm with was a drop light and that was only enough for my hands.

dispite all the delays, long ours, and bad weather our shop got the job done without any problems. I hope we don't get another project like that for a while. it will be nice to start the week with a normal schedule.

Don't they issue you with protective waterproof clothing for work situations like that? It sounds like you enjoy challenging work. Good job you didn't have to do it in the middle of January.:)
