Well... I guess long distance relationships -challenging as they seem to be, are possible. In the end they're just a matter of commitment, unselfishness, and patience. Unfortunately loving from afar requires more than we are sometimes willing or able to give. Very often they're simply a shortcut to heartache. Too bad, huh?

A long distance relationship can work out, however, one of the partner must be willing and able to re-locate for it to work.Of course at that point it is no longer a long-distance relationship. We must make sacrifices if possible to make relationships work out.

LDR hardly ever work out. You don't get ENOUGH time with each other. It's not so bad, if it's only about the sex. But for a real relationship to work out, you have to be able to be together when you need to be, and be apart when you need to be. Not because you HAVE to be.

I'm not into LDR's because they're expensive and they're unnecessary... Wwith gas prices at an all-time high, there's no way I'm gonna shell out (pun was intended) big bucks just to connect with a woman... No matter how special she is, it's just simply stupid to travel long distances for female companionship...there are plenty of hot women available locally... On the other hand, a little bit of distance can be a great thing...a lot of guys (including yours truly) like to be able to focus themselves during the week and spend some quality during the weekend...my last GF lived about 40 miles away, so I didn't have to worry about driving north to see her until the weekend...because of the distance. This distanced relationship allowed me to work long hours in the office (a good thing) and in the gym (a very good thing).

I'm in one....it's challenging to say the least, but it's working after nearly a year of bumps in the road. Most of the tension is created by lack of physical presence....something we plan on fixing really soon! In the meantime, constant communication is a MUST. It takes a special kind of love to survive the distance factor. I think we have it. ;-)
