Besides the scammers from Nigeria or other countries known for them another thing that is annoying is women profiles who are promoting their webcam or webcam site.   I did run into a woman who thinks she would be more safe around me if I joined the webcam site she was on.   Is it very frustating when communications go well at first and the woman is either a scammer or a webcam girl.   The best advice for guys is if a person you barely known in the world of online asks for a large amount of money cut communications with them right away.

How can we go after these scammers and put them out of business? How about recruiting some of the women on this blog to write to another woman to see if she exists?

The scams are not just this site.  They are on all dating sites.  Yes, even Match.  You would think that the opporators of these sites would do more to curb all the fake profiles and scammers on here, but they don't.  In fact, a lot of these dating sites create fake profiles to make it look as though there are 100's of thousand members.
But, I am still here right!
    :)

Nigerian scams are common and when they tell me they are from there I them ask them for money first, lol, it throws them off, usually of someone says they love you within the first email or two it is a scam.

I always ask why their IP address is from out of the country… and they turn off their profiles.. Mostly scammers on this site… I even told one that I sent her money to through western union just to waste his time.. Don’t forget to report the scammer….

I was contacted by two "ladies" from Nigeria. The first claimed to have an abundance of cash but then about a week later ask me to send her money so she could pay her hospital bill. The other one couldn't spell or compile a complete sentence. Finally she wrote to me professing her love and guess what??? Her spelling and sentence structure was perfect!!.

LOL! I used to recieve EMAILS from Nigerian scam rings a few years ago. I h8 those! PPl on there were looking for marriage and stuff as long as I PAID their way here or they wanted me to deposit money in their accounts. I just responded "GET A JOB!!"....maybe THAT'S why my Yahoo! account got mysteriously hacked into and my password and security questions were reset. HMMMmmmm....Now I just put them in the spam folder. I have yet to run into any scammers on interactive sites like this though other than the usual "I'd like to meet..." and be a no-show, lol.

Sorry,to hear of your experiences.I have never been scammed on this site.Have before, however, not on this site.I hope the following statements does not offend the good persons in these countries. However,Nigeria and Ghana are notorious for their scammers. It has gotten so bad that a lot of persons won,t even consider a relationship with anyone from these countries. Not everyone in these countries are dishonest. However,it is hurting the honest and sincere ones, since it reflect on them.My advice would be to be very careful with persons from these two coiuntries.

Nigeria is home to most of the scams. It used to be a 419 from the Nigerian penal code 419 = fraud; Go to focus Hawaii site and see if any of the pics look familiar,
Another good site is Romance Scams
and from the US State dept:

How about getting a 'picture' of a young-lady sent to you as 'a-match', getting the same young-lady, with a different profile, location as a 'match' several days later.
Sloppy-bookeeping or is it a fact that all of these dating-sites are linked together and are in reality, just one company trying too(and are)making money(lots of money).....and yes, they get some of mine too! Why do we stay in hope of 'meeting' that 'younger-woman'??
I guess they/we know we are too old to get back into 'high-school, none of our local-younger-girls will 'babysit' for us anymore, or we can't advertise localy because someone we know might find out..or worse yet, answer our ad.
But than again, anything is possible...so keep those memberships..."Gold". Best of luck

Lots of scams are coming out of the African Nation of Nigeria, as well as some of the Eastern Blocks, Russian, Ukraine, etc.
I have a friend of mine who met a lady that supposedly is from France who supposedly is now visiting her father in, you guess it, NIGERIA!! lol!
He loves the attention and is well aware of the potential scam, so for now, he is just playing along!

IF the header doesn't give them away - often the profile will. Often the "Area" their listed as conflicts - with their profile info.

IF a picture looks too "model" appearing - chances are (IMHO) it is a fake.

I've been hit with so many, I can usually tell within a paragraph of their writing - real or fake. Their questions also - seem to be all the same. Like a broken record. Also, if you watch your e-mail, you'll often see so-called replies of women or men you've not even written to - as though you've talked to them before. Lots of flags - you just have to watch for them.

I being a male, don't know how bad the women have it for scams from those posing as or actually being male, but the men sure seem to get hit - from those posing as or actually women.

I edit this a few days later - having thought of something.

I had a woman contact me who
"supposedly" lived in Pittsburgh PA - downtown. She wanted me to come visit her - so I asked for directions. She "claimed" to live next door to a Hospital - but couldn't tell me which one! HOW the heck - can you live next door to a "major" hospital - and not know the name of it? I rattled off the names of all the facilities there - still - she couldn't reply. SCAM flag - raised very high.

Ask them any local info you may know about - the area that they "claim" to be from - chances are the "Scammers" can't reply with a logical answer.

I always find them to be very vague in any replies. Changing subjects and outright refusing to answer questions. ALL RED FLAGS.

    SMART - they are not.

I have one trying to scam me. Russian living in UK. Did a general search tonite within 1000 miles and 8 of every 10 profiles are the same thing. Russians claiming to be all over America with hot pics. Notice a lot of the British spelling ... such as flavour instead of flavor. Dead givaway. Also getting 'generic' sort of replies from girls who first wink at me...... without reading my profile first. Want to go to g-mail or some place, then lead you to a pay porn site. I'm gold, but won't renew if 80-90% is/are fakes, scams, and hustles. Didn't think it would be that hard to find younger women interested in older men. You know they're out there, but this sux!

The Nigerian along with the Russian is two big scams. They create a profile on a dating site, copy/paste a photo from Model agencies, such as focusHawaii, and then copy someone else profile to make it look legit, because there English is not too good. When you make contact with them, they give you a sob story that their mom is doing humunitarian work in Nigeria and got sick, and they had to leave their job to take care of her and have no money to return to the States. Then, the ask you for help!
Two known scammers here are 4u2nvme and blondychristty1. Heart2000 might be another one. I got scammed and did some research on the web and fpund this out. Any wording with Nigeria is the key.
