One possible ideal first date would be coffee or cocktails and yes a walk and talk would top it off. You know you can't be a great and classy museum either!

If it is during the summer, I am a sucker for rollerblading from Venice Beach to the end of the bike path going North, parallel to PCH (ending at Temescal Canyon in Pacific Palisades). By the way there are plenty of restrooms and snack bars for quick snacks and beverages along the way.
If it is during the fall or winter, I love the vibe at and around LACMA (the Los Angeles County Museum of Art). There are the visual arts, usually music and dining - a lot to do.
Spring is perfect for an outdoor snack, good conversation and people watching at any of the restaurant's in the Sunset Plaza area of West Hollywood, along the Sunset Strip.

Hmm perhaps the Andy Warhol museum.. always wanted to go there. Since I moved here I haven't been there. Love walking around and just seeing everything. And relax with some dinner to talk.

Meet in the cafe of a modern art gallery, giving us the chance to chat over a coffee. I would be reading a book on quantum field theory to enable you to spot me. Then we would view the exhibition together, and discuss it over dinner until late in the evening.

For a first date I like activities that can don't put a lot of pressure on either person. It also depends what the other person is into. If they are into golf, lets go to the golf dome and hit some balls. If they are into dogs lets take the dogs for a walk. Meals and all other activities can always follow! :-)

I LOVE being outside. I love canoeing, boating, trail riding on horseback, camping, picnics. I love the California coast: day trip, road trip. I enjoy wine tasting in the Napa area. I'm not much of a gambler and cannot take the 2nd hand cigarette smoke (I'm allergic to it.) But I love Lake Tahoe outside. One thing I haven't done yet - parasail. Definitely want to do that someday. I'm not a very good water skier - just need more practice.
A dog park could be a good first date.
