I think the first "date' should be one in which we could have mutually satisfying conversations and get to know one another's likes and dislikes. Preferably in a place where the atmosphere is appropriate and conducive to a relaxing evening together. Usually in the first hour of a first date...( or in less time ) ....one can tell if there is the right type of chemistry and physical attraction that will be conducive to propel a new relationship to a satisfying and hopefully romantic adventure(s) in the future.
I feel that, although a much over used cliche,..."getting to know one another"... is the most important event in a new relationship...and laying down what each other's needs,expectations and desires are in a new relationship will be essential to avoid so much of the drama and misunderstandings that invariably crop up from time to time in most relationships.
